(WXYZ) — We have seen a number of incidents of road rages, construction workers being hit, and extreme speeders on the freeways in recent months.

For our 7 UpFront segment, we're being joined by Michigan State Police First Lieutenant Mike Saw to talk about what's going on.

When it comes to the road rage incident, Lt. Shaw says we are seeing an increase, "We're actually seeing a spike. I kinda wish we could say that it maybe it seems like it's not happening, but since June 15th we've had 18 different incidents of either homicide, felonious assault, or non-fatal shootings.'

Shaw also says they've seen an increase in traffic crashes, with over 50 more people dying this year than over the same period in 2019, despite this year including the three month long stay home order.

"We really need to start getting out act together again, as drivers again, as we kinda move through this," Shaw says.
